We know this might not be a popular idea, but the HOA has decided to have the picnic table at the Phase 1 park permanently removed. Also, from here on out, we don't plan on repairing equipment that is intentionally destroyed. It will be removed and not replaced. Of course, the HOA will see that the equipment is maintained, and normal wear-and-tear items will be taken care of.
For the past 4+ years, several community members have donated hours of their time fixing equipment that has been broken, just to have it damaged again within days. It's a cycle that the HOA is tired of dealing with. It's very unfortunate and we're sad to see that it's come to this.
We're really hoping that this will be an incentive for the kids to take care of their equipment! We're lucky to have all these great parks.

One of the purposes of setting up a neighborhood watch is encourage homeowners to look out for the park vandals and report the destructive activity to the police and HOA.
The culprits vandalizing the park are most likely coming from with-in our community. When the Neighborhood watch program goes into effect I hope every parent understands that as a homeowner they are ultimately responsible for their kids actions. Simply scaling down our common areas and refusing acknowledge the real problem, "The Vandals", is not going to prevent our personal property from becoming the next picnic table in the future.
