Dishwashers in Grand Firs homes may be recalled due to serious fire hazard.
The dishwasher in Jim Ehnborn’s home is being recalled by Maytag. He received the notice on Friday. Maytag is recalling about 1.7 million Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa and Crosley dishwashers that were sold to home builders, department and appliance stores from February 2006 through April 2010. An electrical failure in the dishwasher’s heating element can pose a serious fire hazard.
It is easy to check the recall list at http://www.repair.maytag.com or call toll-free any time at (800) 544-5513. Maytag will either repair the dishwasher or send you a rebate toward a new dishwasher.
Maytag will be replacing the heating element on Sept. 13th. If other people have a recalled dishwasher, we may be able to coordinate a Grand Firs recall day.
If your dishwasher is on the recall list, Maytag is recommending immediately turning off the power to the dishwasher and not using it until the repair is completed.

I just checked our Jenn-Air and it ends in "LP" which means it is part of the recall. If there is a way to coordinate a recall day here, let me know. Whew, thanks for the warning!

Ours is being recalled as well. Was looking into scheduling our repair day for sometime this coming week if possible.
The service company will be calling me on Tue to reconfirm that they service our community. They could not locate our street when they called on Sat.
We are trying to have a Grand Firs recall day because there are about 100 new homes built during the recall period.
Looks like our Jenn-Air is also on the recall list. Jim, thank you for passing this information along. If you can coordinate something with the service company (when it comes to a Grand Firs recall day) please let me know so I can spread the word!
We have an appt for next Wed hours 12-5 if someone wants to mention during your ph call that they will be in our area during that time.

You must register your recall with Maytag at www.repair.maytag.com or call toll-free any time at (800) 544-5513 in order for the service company to have the authorization to repair your dishwasher. We may be able to coordinate the service calls on Monday, Sept. 13th (Ehnborn’s date) or Wednesday, Sept 15th (Odden’s date).
They are going to be at my house on monday between 2 and 5.
