April 22 Meeting

The meeting organized by Jim Ehnborn was held tonight, and approximately 35 homeowners showed up. We spent a little over two hours discussing everything from gate issues to builders' trash on empty lots. A couple of homeowners volunteered to take on tasks such as contacting OSHA and Pierce County regarding some of our concerns. The meeting was a nice way to talk face-to-face and see that we're all on the same page when it comes to getting things done in our community. Thanks to Jim and Louise for organizing it.

For those who asked me to post this, the managing broker for John L Scott Canyon Road is Stephanie Stephens. Her email address is stephanis@johnlscott.com . Who knows if she'll do anything but I suppose it doesn't hurt to email or call.

Great seeing so many people at the meeting tonight. It's nice to see we all have the same concerns, and that we can work together to address them.

Well I emailed Stephanie and she was useless. She told me to contact the developer. I thought that *maybe* she'd take a little responsibility for the agents who work out of her office but I guess I was wrong. So who is the developer again? I believe this was brought up at the meeting but I didn't have anything to write with.

The owners of the property for the balance of the lots at Grand Firs is Mastro Properties, but they turned over the management to our favorite contact - Jim Selden.

Mastro Properties, 510 Rainer Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144.

They forwarded my letter of March 16th to Jim Selden. I am still waiting for answers to my 7 questions.

Does anyone have the phone number for contacting the Sheriff to file a trespassing issue? Their main offices close at 4:30 on Monday – Friday. I left a message on the Drug Activity voice mail: 253-798-7537.

Yesterday morning before 10am, I observed 9 people, 4 cars, 4 dogs that were trespassing:

2 cars with 3 people were at the back retention pond about 7am in what I believe was a potential drug deal. I reported the license number of the truck to the Sheriff Drug Activity office. The cars entered and left through the north gates.

2 cars were parked south of the Phase 2 Sterling model home at the corner of 77 & 79 Ave. E. Drivers were pushing the strollers along 77 Ave toward rear retention pond. The cars entered and left through the north gates.

2 cars were parked outside of south gate and the drivers were walking the 4 dogs along 77th Ave. Ct E. They used the walk in gates.

If each of us reports any suspicious activity to the Sheriff, we can collect statics to present to Jim Seldon and Michael Mastro, President of Mastro Properties, that we need to have the gates closed except for when the model homes are open from noon to five.

Does anyone know the requirements for posting “Private Property – No Trespassing” signs? I would also like to have signs “Property Under 24 Hour Video Surveillance” posted at both gates.

I know people are reluctant to call 911 regarding these issues.. but if a crime is in progress (no matter how insignificant it may seem), 911 is the number to call. Tell the dispatcher this is an ongoing problem.

I'm a 911 dispatcher by the way. So I can tell you that you're not being bothersome by reporting something such as drug activity or trespassing in progress. If a patrol car is in the area, they may be able to catch some of these idiots.

The non-emergency (crimes not in progress) number for PCSO is 253-798-4721. If I'm not mistaken, this is a 24-hour line.

I contacted OSHA and was told they only have jurisdiction over a job site’s employees. She wasn’t sure who to contact at the county about the rebar and such. She suggested we contact the Sheriff and they would point us in the right direction. I haven’t pursued this any further because I’m under the impression someone else was contacting the county. Is this correct? If not, I can move forward with this.
