Neighborhood Garage Sale and Park Cleanup

Tricia is wondering how many people would be interested in a neighborhood garage sale. Maybe the last weekend in June? Leave a comment with your thoughts.

Also, the park is needing some TLC. The weeds are becoming a problem and a few dead shrubs need to be pulled out. (Is the landscape crew supposed to weed?) Any volunteers to pull weeds? Even a few minutes would be great.. I plan on going over in the next day or so.

(**UPDATE** A very hard-working crew showed up and spent several hours doing landscape work at the park two days ago. It looks fantastic. So we can cross this project off the list.)

Final note.. Huge thanks to those who have adopted Reich yards! They are looking great.

As of now, lot #42 and lot #45 have been mowed and weeded. Makes a huge diffence already, thank you so much to all who are helping out. We still have 5 or so more that could use the little bit of work, I myself will be taking on another yard either today, or tomorrow. If anyone plans on working on a specific yard, please state the lot number, that is, if you can...that would help in knowing how many yards are accounted for, and which ones still need the work! Thanks again...this is definitley one of those oppertunities to get together as a community, and take care of alittle business oureselves!

We will be taking care of the lot next to our house, hopefully this weekend. We are lot 54, but without a map readily available, I can't tell you if it is lot 53 or 55.

I've been mowing lot 72. I had some correspondence with Jim Seldon about the landscapers.

"Thank you for your email. Thanks as well for the heads up on Lot 72. As you know, our economy has been very harsh on many people and we are seen increasing, not declining, short sales and foreclosures. Pierce County is one of the worst hit areas in our state. Although I agree that the maintenance of another's family's yard is not your responsibility, I want to thank you for your help in mowing and weeding. I will investigate ownership of this property by looking at the public records to see if there has been any change in title and if I see no change, I will look at the foreclosure rolls. We are going through a similar situation with a homes constructed by one of the three original builders who is not going to be able to continue in business. As a result, several of its homes have been allowed to remain unmowed with weeds. I tried to work with the builder to have these homes maintained but now that their bank is dictating price points for sale, whatever equity they had is now gone. The bank says they will not do anything, including maintenance of the yards, until title is placed into their name. From what I have been told, that is likely to occur at the end of this month so we will be able to get things back in order when we can deal with the banks that have the money and incentive to do the maintenance."

"I have passed on your comment about the landscape crew directly to them and to the property owner. If you don't see any improvement in that regard within the next two weeks, would you please email me again and let me know? I will get on them so that the landscaping and weeding is not professionally in a consistent manner."

Mandy,
I am in for the garage sale. I am good for whatever weekend. I will vote for one if there is such a thing. Also, if you need help making signs or getting balloons I will be glad to help. I think that a newspaper ad would be helpful too. If you want me to do that let me know. We can pitch in for the cost and describe our neighborhood items.
My phone number is 655-5007 or you can email me.
Thanks,
Tricia
